Community & Environmental Commitment

At CDDL Recycling, recycling is not just something we do as a business.
It is something we actively support, promote and encourage within our local community.

We believe real environmental change happens when people understand why recycling matters and feel empowered to play a part. That is why we give our time, resources and experience to local initiatives that make a genuine difference.

Our Commitment to Responsible Recycling

Recycling is not just about collection and compliance. It is about education, reuse and long-term thinking.

Everything we do is driven by a simple belief:
waste should be reduced, reused where possible, and recycled responsibly.

That belief does not stop at our yard gates. It extends into schools, training environments and local green spaces, where awareness and action today lead to better outcomes tomorrow.

Education & Awareness in Local Schools

Education is one of the most effective ways to create lasting environmental change.

Tony Hughes, CEO of CDDL Recycling, regularly visits local schools to talk to students about recycling, waste management and the wider environmental impact of everyday choices.

These sessions are designed to be practical, engaging and relevant, helping young people understand:

  • Why recycling matters

  • What happens to waste after it is collected

  • How small actions add up to big environmental benefits

By working directly with schools, we aim to build awareness early and encourage responsible habits that last well beyond the classroom.

Supporting Skills Through Reuse

Recycling is not always about breaking materials down. Sometimes it is about giving them a second life.

We have supported woodworking students by providing recycled pallets for use in training and practical projects. This allows materials that would otherwise go to waste to be reused productively, while also supporting education and skill development.

It is a simple example of the circular economy in action and one we are proud to be part of.

Everything we do is driven by a simple belief: waste should be reduced, reused where possible, and recycled responsibly.

Giving Time Back to the Local Environment

Our commitment to the environment goes beyond waste.

The CDDL team regularly gives up time to support local environmental work, including helping to remove redundant tree guards from trees in the local area. These guards, if left in place, can restrict growth and damage trees over time.

By helping with their removal, we support healthier green spaces and contribute to the long-term care of the local environment and community.
